A NEW LEASE OF LIFE FOR THE FORMER RIBURG RESTAURANT
The “Restaurant Riburg”, built in 1872, is well known in the region. The last guests were served there in 2017. Now this historic building is being given a new lease of life. Three buildings, with an underground car park beneath them, are being constructed on the site. On the ground floor of the former restaurant is a commercial unit, which has already been let. In addition, 15 rental flats are being built, each with covered outdoor areas and a separate cellar compartment.
The restaurant was first registered in 1898 as the “Restaurant zur Pinte”. At that time, there was already a “Restaurant Pinte” in Möhlin (later known as the “Rössli”), which probably explains the subsequent name change to the well-known “Restaurant Riburg”. Unfortunately, it is not known exactly when this name change took place.
